One-day silent retreat

3 December 2023 (Saturday)

10:00am – 4:00pm

The retreat is suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

 

This practice day is suitable for everyone who wants to refresh and deepen their mindfulness practice.

Guided body and breathing exercises with other elements of classical mindfulness practice will be part of the program. Depending on the weather, out-door exercises  are also included.

We spend the day in silence and usually conclude the day with a with a joint sharing of experiences.

 

Teacher

Mettā (Irene Wulff) was ordained in the Thai forest monastic tradition (Ajahn Chah) from 1996 to 2017. She lived and practiced primarily in England at the monasteries of Amaravati and Cittaviveka. During this time, Ajahn Sumedho and Ajahn Sucitto were her spiritual teachers and mentors. In June 2017 she left the order and now lives and teaches in Berlin.

Preliminary Program

10:00am – 12:30pm Introduction, mindfulness exercises and meditation in sitting and in movement

12:30pm – 1:30pm  Lunch and rest

1:30pm – 4:00pm  meditation and closing with a shared reflection on the experience

Food and Drinks

Participants will be served lunch. All meals at Buddhistisches Haus are vegetarian. Vegan options are available on the buffet.

Please mention food allergies and special food intolerances at registration with SAGE.

Costs

The costs include:

  • course fee*: 20€
  • teacher donation*: 30-40€ (recommendation)
  • donation for hosting (Buddhistisches Haus)*: 20-25€ (recommendation)

The course fee is needed for full registration and is paid upon online-registration with SAGE. The donations for the teacher as well as for the host (Buddhistisches Haus) are given at the end of the retreat (in cash).

*Cost breakdown:

The course fee covers expenses for the seminar organization.  The donation to the Buddhist House covers expenses for meals including beverages, expense allowance for the cook, and operating costs. Please keep in mind that the Buddhist House is financed purely by donations. The house depends on every donation for its maintenance. Our seminar teachers also live largely on the income from donations (Dāna).
